Looking for effective plantar wart removal in Wollongong?

What are plantar warts?

Warts are a viral infection from the Human papillomavirus (HPV) that manifests as a growth on the skin. There are over 100 strains of HPV, but only a few cause warts on the foot. The other strains are more likely to cause warts on other areas of your skin & body, e.g. hands, face, knees or genitals. A plantar wart or verruca is found on the sole of your foot. They tend to be painful and challenging to treat because the skin is thicker on the soles of the feet, which is a weight-bearing surface.

They are very contagious and easily spread to other parts of the body or from person to person, so treating them swiftly is essential.

What is Swift Wart Therapy?

Swift uses medical microwave technology that is highly effective in resolving warts and verrucae. The machine allows us to deliver a focused direct microwave signal to a pre-determined depth into the skin, ensuring only the wart is treated. This is what sets Swift apart from other treatment
options. As these microwaves travel to a pre-determined depth, they do not damage the skin’s surface and instead cause the infected wart tissue to release proteins that elicit an immune response from the body to fight and cure the virus. Therefore, over the course of treatments, your body becomes immune to the virus compared to other treatment options that just kill the wart. The Swift treatment method has a resolution success rate of 83%, with three treatments spaced one month apart, followed by a three-month follow-up review.

It rapidly heats the infected tissue to 42-45ºC over 2 seconds, repeated 5-8 times. This sudden increase in temperature can cause discomfort; however, as Swift treatments are very quick, discomfort only lasts a few seconds. Once the appropriate dosage has been delivered, the client can walk out without dressings and in no/very minimal pain.

How does Swift Work?

Swift uses microwaves to selectively target and destroy plantar warts.

Warts form a few millimetres under the skin, making them hard to reach and treat. Unlike cryotherapy or salicylic acid treatments, Swift targets the root cause of the wart, delivering microwave energy directly into the affected tissue without breaking skin or damaging the surrounding area.

Swift microwaves can be adjusted to focus on a defined area and depth. They generate thermal energy, heating the tissue and triggering a state of stress in the infected cells. Heat causes the release of signalling proteins which alert your body’s immune system to fight the virus.

After Swift treatment, the body recognises and eliminates infected skin cells. New, healthy cells regenerate, and skin returns to normal.
